Lecturer/Senior Lecturer

Hourly paid, Part time, and Full time

The Islamic College in London is seeking to employ lecturers/senior lecturers in the areas of Islamic Studies, Islamic Law and Muslim Cultural Studies. Primary tasks would include teaching, seminar and student tutoring. The position could ultimately lead to module leader appointment.

Successful applicants should have a broad knowledge of Islamic Studies as well as specialist knowledge and experience in one or more areas. Lecturers will be expected to provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to Islamic Studies for those interested in acquiring a critical, constructive, and comprehensive understanding of issues and topics about Islam. Therefore a minimum of three years teaching, research or work experience relevant to this is required. Preference is for candidates with a PhD degree in an Islamic studies discipline with research and publication experience in their area of expertise.

Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience.

Translators

Seeking freelance Persian-English and Arabic-English translators specializing in Islamic Studies

The Islamic College in London is looking to employ a number of freelance Persian-English and Arabic-English translators to translate specialized books and articles on Qur’anic sciences, hadith sciences, Islamic philosophy, ‘irfan, and other aspects of the Islamic sciences.

An ideal candidate will write fluent, accurate academic English and will have a strong background in Islamic studies. Translators must be fully familiar with technical Islamic terminology and be able to translate and explain it accurately.

Translators do not need to live in the UK.
