Qur'anic Arabic
The Islamic College is happy to introduce a Qur’anic Arabic evening course for beginners. The course is suitable for people who are completely new to the Arabic language or those who are familiar with the Arabic alphabet.
The importance of reciting, studying and contemplating on the verses of the Holy Qur’an cannot be stressed enough. Indeed this great revelation has many depths and mysteries that have yet to be discovered.
Those who frequently read the Holy Qur’an can attest to the fact that it is an unending source of information and a bottomless well of fresh knowledge and guidance. Reading it repeatedly does not lead to ennui, but rather opens one to many more avenues of thought.
The aim of the course is to familiarise students with the basic structures of the Arabic and help them in the comprehension of the language of the Qur’an. Emphasis is placed on reading and writing skills.
The course is taught in English and Arabic and covers these four skills using contemporary printed and audio material. The approach adopted in teaching grammar is based using Qur’anic text. The course is taught using a mixture of old and modern methods of teaching that are proven to greatly enhance the learning experience of the student. The course is taught using the text book Towards Understanding Qur’anic Arabic by Muhammad Ibrahim H. I. Surty, QAF Qur’anic Arabic Foundation, plus 2 audio CDs.
