In recent years the study of Islam has become an important component of Western academic endeavor. The fast growth of this discipline is due to the emerging global importance of Islam as a political and cultural force and as one of the major religions in the world. The growing number of Muslims in Western societies in recent decades has created the need for better understanding of Muslims and their beliefs in order to create a well-balanced environment conducive to racial and ethnic harmony.
Postgraduate courses Studied at the Islamic College offers students the opportunity to gain a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge of Islam within historical and modern contexts. It also engages students with some of the central issues confronting Muslims and Muslim societies today. Our MA / PG Dip programme and the additional insights through MA / PG Dip modules offers a diverse set of courses to familiarize the students with the main sources of Islam. Students will also gain additional insights through MA/ PG Dip modules which will focus on the development of Islamic beliefs and practices, history of Islam and modern trends in Islamic thought with a further option of Comparative studies. Within a nurturing environment, and in constant interaction with some of the most knowledgeable lecturers in the field, students will be introduced to the classical as well as pioneering studies and methodological and interpretive approaches.
