MA/ PG Dip Comparative Philosophy FT & PT (Validated by Middlesex University)
Thanks to recent inter-civilisation challenges between the West and Islam, there is an increasing trend in mutual understanding among the two. As many of the differences are on the surface, a comparative philosophy as a postgraduate course with its relative depth could be helpful. Both here and abroad, there is an increasing interest in understanding and evaluation of the two ways of thinking.
The programme is designed to develop the knowledge of students who are seeking an in-depth understanding of similarities and differences between the approaches taken by great Western and Muslim philosophers towards major philosophical issues. By critically examining the main topics, paradoxes and problems in different philosophical domains which have been regarded as significant and noteworthy by Muslim and Western philosophers, the course develops habits of mind that are of great importance for life in the multicultural global society.
The programme aims to develop:
- Students research skills and further their analytical approach in Philosophy
- An in depth understanding of the main topics, paradoxes and problems in different philosophical domains

- Critical thinking, analytical and practical skills in constructing well-reasoned arguments
