Muslim Cultures & Civilisation (Validated by Middlesex University)

  Awarding Institution: Middlesex University
  Teaching Institution: The Islamic College

BA (Hons) Muslim Cultures & Civilisation, accredited by Middlesex University, gives you the opportunity to study Islam as a system of belief, a civilisation and a way of life. Over the course of three years you will be introduced to modules such as Islamic Civilisation, Cultural and Social studies, Muslim Art and Architecture, Muslims in Africa, Muslims in the Indian Subcontinent and the Far East, the Social Impact of Sufism in the Muslim World, Islam and Human Rights, and Muslims in Britain and the Concept of Citizenship. These will complement the more traditional modules such as History of Islam, Life of the Holy Prophet, Islamic Ethics, and Muslims and Political Thought.

Entry Requirements
Applicants should have three A2-levels at grade C or equivalent. No previous knowledge of Islamic Studies or Sociology is necessary.

Application Procedure
As the College is in the process of validating the course, all applications should be made directly to the Islamic College. Any queries can be directed to the Education Department (study@islamic-college.ac.uk).

Course Outline
This course shares many validated modules with the present BA Islamic Studies Course but excludes some modules like Islamic Thought, Islamic Jurisprudence, and Islamic Philosophy in place of a number of popular new modules (as indicated above). However unlike the present core/designated structure of the BA Islamic Studies, the Muslim Culture and Civilisations BA course is fully designated, meaning that the learner decides which modules to study to gain the 120 credits needed at each level.
