Counselling Service

Counselling is a way of addressing problems by talking them through with someone who, whilst supportive, is not directly involved in the situation. Counselling involves people talking about their problems freely and openly in a way that is rarely possible with friends or family.

EVERY WEDNESDAY

1.30 – 2.30 p.m.

Students change and develop in multiple areas during their college years. Students grow when they face challenges WITH support.

Counselling is designed to confidentially support students throughout their studies as they deal with transition, identity, independence, academics, relationships, and life choices.

Counselling is
• CONFIDENTIAL and non-judgmental
• Provides a “sounding board” and a willing listener
• Does not focus only on problems, looks at strengths
• The counsellor acts as a mirror to help individuals see themselves clearly—counselling is NOT about simply solving problems or giving advice
. • Deals with feelings about academic, personal, family, relationship, and health issues among others
• No problem too small, no problem too big to be dealt with …
